have been to the Schulz Museum at least once in our first five years as part of our monthly Cartoonist-in-Residence (CIR) program.

Trevor Alixopulos ~ CIR March 2007
Trevor, a Santa Rosa local, blends original comic illustrations and story lines to create graphic novels, including his recently released work, Mine Tonight.

Brent Anderson ~ CIR May 2005
Brent is a comic artist currently working on Astro City:The Dark Age (a four-issue story arc for DC/Wildstorm), and a children's graphic novel (in collaboration with Shirley Johnston) called Good Mother Dinosaur.  He also creates original comic art that he sells on his web site.

 

Stephen Bentley ~ CIR February 2005
Stephen is the creator of the newspaper feature Herb and Jamaal.  He has been drawing since he can remember and honed his skills while in the Navy drawing a comic panel, Navy Life, for his base newspaper. As a freelance artist he has also created the features Squirt and Hey Coach and has produced artwork for clients like the Los Angeles Dodgers, Wham-O Toys, the Playboy Channel, and Universal Studios.

Michael Capozzola ~ CIR April 2006
Michael is a Bay Area comedian and cartoonist who has contributed to MAD magazine and National Lampoon.  You can see his cartoon Cheap City each week in the San Francisco Chronicle and on his web site.

Don Crum ~ CIR July 2006
As an animator at Disney/Pixar studios, Don has worked on this summer’s popular Ratatouille, as well as on previous hits such as Mulan, Brother Bear, and Cars.

Vanessa Davis ~ CIR February 2007
Vanessa Davis is the creator of Spaniel Rage, a diary comic chronicling her toils and triumphs as a young woman in New York City. Vanessa's self-published mini-comics and anthology stories are collected in Spaniel Rage, a book published by Buenaventura Press.


Alexis Fajardo ~ CIR August 2006
Alexis is the creator of Kid Beowulf, an all-ages graphic novel inspired by history and myth.  Previously published by Lexpress, the series will be re-launched by Bowler Hat Comics with a revamped storyline and all-new art. Alexis is currently working on the newest book in the all-ages series, which will be published in spring 2008.


Greg Knight ~ CIR January 2005 & April 2007
Greg is an artist with LucasArts and was recently the lead concept artist for the video games Star Wars: Republic Commando and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Using digital tools, Greg designs characters and environments that can be seen in video games, comic books, and television.

Brian Kolm ~ CIR June 2006
Brian works as a freelance illustrator, designer, animator, and story artist.  He founded Atomic Bear Press in 1999 and self-publishes his work, including Beyond the Great Chimney, Sea-Man 6, and others. He can also be found teaching cartooning to kids and adults at Bay Area museums, including Cartoon Art Museum, Zeum, and the Schulz Museum.

 

Brian Narelle ~ CIR January 2007
Brian is a cartoonist, screenwriter, actor, and former animator who recently taught a week-long summer camp for kids at the Schulz Museum. Brian created the original San Diego Chicken and is currently developing a mascot for the American Red Cross. A volunteer Clinical Cartoonist at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, he also visits hospitals in San Francisco along with SPCA dogs; he refers to this practice as Canine Cartoon Therapy.

Jorge Pacheco
Jorge has been a professional comic book artist/cartoonist for 21 years, working on such characters as Bugs Bunny, Casper the Friendly Ghost, the Power Puff Girls, Space Ghost, and Bullwinkle and Rocky. He created a syndicated strip, CEO Dad, and is currently doing a Manga comic for Tokyopop.

Betsy Streeter ~ CIR September 2005
Betsy, a Bay Area native, has been a professional cartoonist since 1993 when she created her daily panel feature Brainwaves. Her absurdist humor has traveled all over the world in dailies, weeklies, monthlies, quarterlies, books, magazines, websites, blogs, merchandise, and quite a few Psychology textbooks. In addition to Brainwaves, Betsy recently lauched a new weekly feature about working motherhood exclusively for www.mommytrackd.com.

Matt Whitlock ~ CIR January 2006
Matt is a children's author/illustrator and animation artist. His books include Punk 'N Patch, The Gigantic Little Hero, and HumbleBee. He has also worked on several Disney films, such as Mulan, The Emperor's New Groove, and Lilo & Stitch, and is currently working with The Fairly OddParents television series on Nickelodeon.

 

 

 

Joe Wos
Joe is a freelance cartoonist and storyteller from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who has been sharing his talents with audiences across the nation for 12 years. His one-man show, "Once Upon a Toon," combines his passion for storytelling and drawing cartoons. Joe is also the curator of the new ToonSeum Gallery at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

Thomas Yeates ~ CIR December 2004
Thomas is an comic book and comic strip artist who is is especially known for his work on Tarzan and other characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs; Swamp Thing for DC comics; and the Zorro comic strip. Thomas is currently working on a series of graphic novels of classic adventure stories for kids, a new Conan comic book series for Dark Horse, and private commissions for collectors.
