August 2007 marks the Fifth Anniversary of the
Schulz Museum. . .
. . .and to celebrate we've planned a full calendar of special events—from guest cartoonists to special member events to retrospective exhibitions!

Thursday, August 9 ~ Schulz Museum's 5th Anniversary Party
To kick off our anniversary month we hosted an evening of live music and
free ice cream cake
provided by Cold Stone Creamery of Sonoma County.

Saturday, August 11, 2007 ~
Cartoonist Open House &
Sketch-A-Thon
From 1 to 3pm, the Schulz Museum welcomed 15 guest cartoonists and artists for a one-of-a-kind marathon sketching session.
The artists, scattered throughout the Museum's Great Hall and upstairs balcony, greeted over 300 guests, drawing and answering questions about their work.
Many of these artists have previously drawn at the Schulz Museum as part of our Cartoonist-in-Residence Program, and we were happy to welcome them back!

Saturday, August 18 ~ Peanuts Lives Exhibition Member Party
We celebrated the second installation of our exhibition, Peanuts Lives: A Tribute to Charles M. Schulz with a Members-Only party. In Peanuts Lives 2, the long-term impact of
Schulz’s career is revealed through the
images and words of his fellow cartoonists
as they pay homage to him in their
own art. The exhibition runs from August 18, 2007 through January 28, 2008.

Saturday, October 20 ~ Peanuts Lives Speaker Jerry Van Amerongen
Jerry Van Amerongen is the creator
of the single-panel gag cartoon
Ballard Street and winner of the 2003 and 2005 Best Newspaper Cartoon Panel of the Year Award by the National Cartoonists Society. Jerry visited the Schulz Museum to talk about his art
and sign his new book, Practicing People Skills on Ballard Street. One
of Jerry's cartoons is currently on
display in the exhibition Peanuts Lives: A Tribute to Charles M. Schulz. |
