Morphing Snoopy Wood Sculpture

Japanese artist Yoshiteru Otani designed two major art installations for the Great Hall of the Charles M. Schulz Museum. The two pieces, a tile mural and the Morphing Snoopy wood sculpture, were installed from January to February 2002.

This massive wood sculpture installation measures 26 feet x 9.5 feet x 10.5 inches and weighs more than 7,000 pounds. Looking much like a bas relief sculpture as installed on the east wall of the Great Hall, Morphing Snoopy is composed of forty-three layers that have been shaped and cut to reveal the evolving personas of Snoopy, beginning with Spike, Schulz's childhood pet and inspiration for the world famous beagle.
