The Peanuts Sunday page debuted on January 6, 1952, a little over a year after the daily’s first appearance on October 2, 1950. It wasn’t unusual for a syndicate to test a strip’s popularity in the daily format before negotiating a contract with a cartoonist to create a Sunday page. However, there are some strips that appear only in the daily format (e.g., Rip Kirby and Sam’s Strip) and other strips that are published only on Sundays (e.g., Prince Valiant and Opus).
