Charles M. Schulz Museum Exhibits:

Top Dogs: Comic Canines Before and After Snoopy

April 23 through September 26, 2006
This rare and unique display featured approximately fifty cartoons, including classic comic strips such as Krazy Kat, Buster Brown, The Yellow Kid, Tippie, Blondie, Napoleon, Little Orphan Annie and Pogo, as well as current features like Mutts, Pickles, Luann, The Far Side, Dilbert, Red & Rover, Mother Goose & Grimm, Duncan, For Better or For Worse, Rhymes with Orange, and Marmaduke.

Patrick McDonnell, creator of Mutts, with the loveable Earl, Mooch the Cat, humans Ozzie, Mille & Frank, is the curator of the show. Remembering Charles M. Schulz's special love for his foundling dog, Andy, Patrick wanted to document the bond between dogs and humans. He has called upon his many collector friends and we will be fortunate to see rare pieces from these private collections.

Mutts, Patrick's Reuben-award-winning strip, was launched in 1994 with 300 papers. Charles M. Schulz had noticed and admired Patrick's early feature, Bad Baby. The two became great friends and Sparky encouraged Patrick to pursue a daily comic strip.
